Robs started up Birdlight Games in 2015 while working full-time and working on his Master’s . Our motto at Birdlight Games is “Imagination, Creation, Connection.” We are about using our creativity to design and publish games that will bring people together.
Meet the Team
Rob – The Visionary. Owner of Birdlight Games, Rob is a senior science teacher who loves making games. Ever since elementary school he has been designing games but his game creation career really sparked in university and continued thereafter in earnest. He is a lifelong lover of games, strategy, music, science and food. Rob’s first two games were Friend or Foe (2015) and Monkey (2016) and that just got the ball rolling.
Jenny Gosselin – Partner Extraordinaire.Jenny is a registered nurse and an accomplished artist who Rob feels lucky to be married to. As Rob works with artists and “plays” with photoshop, Jenny sees the big picture (ie. she knows what’s actually going on!). All things done well are shared and Jenny has not only made Birdlight Games possible but also beautiful (and functional ).
Nathan Gosselin – Future Playtester. Are you ready Nathan? We’re ready for you. Have you started walking yet?
Zoe Berger – The Aficionado. Zoe is what every company needs: a cheer-leader for everything Birdlight Games imagines or produces. She has been an avid playtester, and an enthusiastic supporter in all things.
David Hepting – TheBearded Joy-bringer.Game Designer & First Fellow of Birdlight Games, David is a Grade 9 teacher, a unicyclist, ultramarathoner, and lover of games. He playtested the earliest iterations of Monkey & Friend or Foe , as well as offered suggestions, and greatly enjoyed Rob’s creative output as they grew up together. David has recently started to delve into game making. Look forward to interesting & exciting games from him in the future!
Jetaime Hepting – The Malaysian Invasion. Game Designer and Translator, Jetaime was a high school Mandarin teacher in Malaysia and recently got married to a Canadian. She is a dreamer & an imaginative soul who loves to think about the possibilities of life. She has a back- ground in journalism and enjoys asking questions. She takes delight in meeting new friends who are on the road & travelling the world (a clue to the game she has begun designing 😉).

“It is one of the superficialities of our time to see in science and in art two opposites. Imagination is the mother of both.”
—Theodor Billroth
“There are no ordinary people. You have never talked to a mere mortal. Nations, cultures, arts, civilisations–these are mortal, and their life is to ours the life of a gnat. But it is immortals whom we joke with, work with, marry, snub, and exploit–immortal horrors or everlasting splendours. This does not mean that we are to be perpetually solemn. We must play. But our merriment must be of that kind (and it is, in fact, the merriest kind) which exists between people who have, from the outset, taken each other seriously–no flippancy, no superiority, no presumption. And our charity must be a real and costly love…”
